The ingame halflife server browser is a buggy piece of shit. Despite people moaning to www.valvesoftware.com since pre-version 1.1.0.1 about this it STILL has not been fixed. (Wonder how buggy TF2's gonna be...) Anyway I've seen lots of Snake Oil (TM) remedies proposed to get around this but I happened to stumble across a connection method that Works Every Time (TM). Solution use console to connect to servers : (1) Make sure you run CS with the "-console" switch. i.e. create a short cut and put in "D:\Files\Entertainment\Half-Life\hl.exe -game cstrike -console -nointro -noipx -nojoy -numericping -32bpp +exec cix.cfg" Note that this directory is where it is on my machine (!). (2) Fire up CS, HL or TFC etc. (3) Go to the console. (4) Use two commands "connect server:port" and if you are still having problems connecting type "retry" to retry connecting to the last server you tried to connect too. e.g. : "connect kalahari.mweb.co.za" "connect namib.mweb.co.za" "connect namib.mweb.co.za:27016" "connect karoo.mweb.co.za" "connect atlas.mweb.co.za:27017" I've never has this fail to connect to a server unless its down or full ... w'zhup |
