U can try this command in DOS...
Put in a bootdisk and at the promp type the following
a:\ fdisk /c:mbr

This is a master bootrecord repair command. It does not always work, it depends on how bad your fat is damaged. Well it will not stuff up anything - so it is worth giving it a go.
